Therapeutic Indications

  • The Product is recommended for use to treat the following:
  • Ear infections particularly inflammation of the middle ear (acute otitis media)
  • Chest infections, such as bronchitis and pneumonia
  • Skin and tissue infections
  • Throat and sinus infections

Usage Directions

  • Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your Doctor. Always shake the bottle well before each dose

Precautions & Warnings

  • Please consult your doctor before consuming this medicine, in case of:
  • Have low levels of magnesium in the blood (hypomagnesaemia) or low levels of potassium in the blood (hypokalaemia)
  • Are allergic to Clarithromycin or to any of the other ingredients of this medicine
  • Have hypokalaemia (low levels of potassium in blood)
  • Have severe liver or kidney disease
  • Are prone to fungal infections (such as thrush)
  • Have heart problem

Indicated Side Effects

  • Muscle pain or weakness known as rhabdomyolysis
  • Swelling of the face, lips, throat or tongue, difficulty in breathing or swallowing, skin flushing and/or dizziness or fainting
  • Yellowing of the skin (jaundice), skin irritation, pale stools, dark urine, tender abdomen or loss of appetite (signs of liver problems)
  • Severe or prolonged diarrhoea
  • Rash which appears as purple spots on the skin
  • Blistering of the skin, mouth, eyes or genitals
  • Increased sweating
  • Difficulty in sleeping
  • Stomach problems such as nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, indigestion, diarrhoea
  • Changes in sense of taste
  • Widening of blood vessels
  • Headache
  • Feeling weak, tired and having no energy
  • High temperature
  • Painful rash, muscle spasms, muscle pain or loss of muscle tissue
  • Swelling, redness or itchiness of the skin
  • Dry mouth
  • Inflammation of the stomach and intestines
  • Anal pain, bloating, constipation, burping
  • Inflammation of the lining of the gullet (oesophagus) and lining of the stomach
  • Increase of eosinophils (white blood cells involved in immunity)
  • Changes in heart rhythm such as palpitations or an irregular heartbeat
  • Exaggerated immune response to a foreign agent
  • Vertigo, ringing in the ears or hearing loss
  • Lack or loss of appetite, anxiety, nervousness
  • Involuntary muscle movements

  • Ulceration of the mouth, lips and skin which causes severe illness with rash, fever and inflammation of internal organs

Interactions

  • Please inform your doctor if you have recently consumed or are consuming any of the below mention medicine:
  • Vinblastine (for treatment of cancer)
  • Cisapride (to treat stomach disorders)
  • Gliclazide or glimepiride (sulphonylureas used in the treatment of type II diabetes)
  • Terfenadine or astemizole (to treat hay fever or allergy)
  • Etravirine, efavirenz, nevirapine, ritonavir, zidovudine, atazanavir, saquinavir (anti-viral drugs used in the treatment of HIV)
  • Lovastatin, simvastatin, rosuvastatin, atorvastatin (used to lower levels of cholesterol)
  • Lincomycin and clindamycin
  • Ergotamine or dihydroergotamine (to treat migraines)
  • Verapramil (to treat high blood pressure)
  • Colchicine (usually taken for gout)
  • Nateglinide, pioglitazone, repaglinide, rosiglitazone or insulin (to treat diabetes)
  • Digoxin (to treat heart failure)
  • Itraconazole or fluconazole (to treat fungal infections)
  • Quinidine or disopyramide (to treat abnormal heart rhythm)
  • Theophylline (to treat asthma)
  • Warfarin or acenocoumarol (to thin the blood)
  • Cyclosporin, tacrolimus, sirolimus (to help prevent rejection after a transplant)
  • Triazolam, alprazolam or midazolam (sedatives)
  • Omeprazole (to treat indigestion)
  • Rifabutin, rifampicin, rifapentin (to treat some infections)
  • Tolterodine (to treat urinary frequency)
  • Carbamazepine, valproate, phenobarbital or phenytoin (to treat epilepsy)
  • Sildenafil, tadalafil, vardenafil (to treat erection problems)
  • Methylprednisolone (to treat inflammation)
