Therapeutic Indications

  • Skin and underneath the skin, including muscles
  • Sinuses
  • Prostate gland, where you have a long-lasting infection
  • Lungs, in people with long-term breathing problems or Pneumonia

  • Urinary tract, including your kidneys or bladder

Usage Directions

  • Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your Doctor. Swallow it as a whole with water; do not crush, break or chew it.

Precautions & Warnings

  • Are allergic to levofloxacin or other quinolones or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
  • Have myasthenia gravis
  • Have swallowing or breathing problems
  • Are diabetic
  • Have impaired eyesight
  • Have a history of heart attack (myocardial infarction)
  • Have ever had epilepsy
  • Have a weak heart (heart failure)
  • Have ever had a problem with your tendons
  • Have had damage to your brain due to a stroke or other brain injury
  • Have salt imbalance in the blood (especially low level of potassium or magnesium in the blood)
  • Have kidney problems, liver problems
  • Have family history of prolonged QT interval
  • Have ever had heart problems
  • Have serious problems with your blood
  • Have ever had mental health problems
  • Please consult your doctor before consuming this medicine, in case of:

Indicated Side Effects

  • Loss of appetite, skin and eyes becoming yellow in colour, dark-coloured urine, itching or tender stomach (abdomen)
  • Allergic reaction - rash, swallowing or breathing problems, swelling of your lips, face, throat or tongue
  • Severe skin rashes which may include blistering or peeling of the skin around your lips, eyes, mouth, nose and genitals
  • Burning, tingling, pain or numbness
  • Increase in the level of some liver enzymes in your blood
  • Sleeping problems
  • Feeling sick (nausea, vomiting) and diarrhea
  • Headache, feeling dizzy
  • General weakness
  • Severe skin rashes which may include blistering or peeling of the skin around your lips, eyes, mouth, nose and genitals
  • Blood tests may show unusual results due to liver (bilirubin increased) or kidney (creatinine increased) problems
  • Loss of appetite, skin and eyes becoming yellow in colour, dark-coloured urine, itching or tender stomach (abdomen)
  • Joint pain or muscle pain
  • Changes in the number of other bacteria or fungi named candida
  • Itching and skin rash, severe itching or hives (urticaria), sweating too much (hyperhidrosis)
  • Changes in the number of white blood cells - (leukopenia, eosinophilia)
  • Pain in your stomach area, feeling bloated (flatulence) or constipation
  • Feeling stressed (anxiety), feeling confused, feeling nervous, feeling sleepy, trembling, a spinning feeling (vertigo)
  • Shortness of breath (dyspnoea)
  • Interstitial nephritis
  • Watery diarrhoea
  • Muscle weakness
  • Stomach cramps and a high temperature
  • Unusual fast beating of your heart (tachycardia) or low blood pressure (hypotension)
  • Severe bowel problem
  • Problems with your hearing (tinnitus) or eyesight (blurred vision)
  • Pain and inflammation in your tendons
  • Tingly feeling in your hands and feet (paraesthesia)
  • Thrombocytopenia
  • Feeling depressed, mental problems, feeling restless (agitation), abnormal dreams or nightmares
  • Neutropenia
  • Suicidal thoughts or actions
  • Exaggerated immune response (hypersensitivity)
  • Psychotic reactions
  • Hypoglycaemia
  • Hallucinations, paranoia

Interactions

  • Didanosine or sucralfate (for stomach ulcers)
  • Zinc supplements, magnesium or aluminum-containing antacids (for acid or heartburn)
  • Warfarin - used to thin the blood
  • Iron tablets (for anemia)
  • Theophylline - used for breathing problems
  • Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) - used for pain and inflammation such as aspirin, ibuprofen, fenbufen, ketoprofen and indomethacin
  • Ciclosporin - used after organ transplants
  • For psychiatric disorders (antipsychotics)
  • Medicines known to affect the way your heart beats
  • For depression (tricyclic antidepressants such as amitriptyline and imipramine)
  • Medicines used for abnormal heart rhythm (antiarrhythmics such as quinidine, hydroquinidine, disopyramide, sotalol, dofetilide, ibutilide and amiodarone)
