Therapeutic Indications

• The Product is recommended for use to treat the following:
• Irregular heart rhythm (arrhythmia)
• High blood pressure
• Angina pectoris (pain in the chest caused by blockages in the arteries to the heart)

Usage Directions

• Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your Doctor. Swallow it as a whole with water; do not crush, break or chew it.

Precautions & Warnings

• Please consult your doctor before consuming this medicine, in case of:
• Suffer with gout due to high levels of uric acid (hyperuricaemia)
• Are allergic to metoprolol, other beta-blockers or any other ingredients of this medicine
• Have high levels of calcium (hypercalcaemia)
• Are suffering from any heart problem
• Have low levels of potassium (hypokalaemia) or sodium (hyponatraemia) in your blood
• Suffer with untreated phaeochromocytoma
• Have difficulties in passing urine
• Suffer from increased acidity of the blood (metabolic acidosis)
• Have kidney or liver disease
• Have low blood pressure
• Suffer with hypoglycemia (low blood sugar)
• Have or have had breathing difficulties or asthma including COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease)

Indicated Side Effects

• Allergic reaction such as itching, difficulty breathing or swelling of the face, lips, throat or tongue
• Shortness of breath with or without strenuous physical activity, feeling or being sick, stomach pain
• Tiredness, dizziness, headache, a slow heart rate
• Feeling faint on standing due to low blood pressure
• Depression, nightmares, inability to think clearly
• Difficulty breathing, heart failure, irregular heart rate, palpitation, water retention causing swelling
• Sleepiness or difficulty in sleeping, tingling
• Disturbances of sexual desire and performance, changes in liver function tests
• Changes in the results of blood tests, effects on blood clotting causing easy or unexplained bruising
• Joint inflammation (arthritis)
• Changes in personality, hallucinations, visual disturbances, dry or irritated eyes, ringing in the ears, loss of hearing with high doses
• Heart conduction problems, chest pain, gangrene in patients with severe poor circulation, runny nose, dry mouth, weight gain sensitivity to light, increased sweating, hair loss, worsening or new psoriasis

Interactions

• Please inform your doctor if you have recently consumed or are consuming any of the below mention medicine:
• Hydroxychloroquine (to treat rheumatoid arthritis)
• Antipsychotics
• Cardiac glycosides e.g. digoxin (to treat heart conditions)
• Medicine to treat erectile dysfunction
• Medicines to treat migraines such as ergotamine
• Anaesthetic
• Xanthines such as aminophylline or theophylline (to treat asthma)
• Antiepileptics
• Tropisetron (to prevent nausea and vomiting)
• Cimetidine (to treat stomach ulcers)
• Mefloquine (to treat malaria)
• Barbiturates (to treat epilepsy)
• Aldesleukin (to treat some cancers, particularly cancer of the kidney)
• Medicines used to treat diabetes
• Alprostadil (to treat erectile dysfunction)
• Adrenaline (epinephrine) or noradrenaline (norepinephrine), used in anaphylactic shock
• Indometacin or celecoxib (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs))
• Other beta-blockers e.g. eye drops
• Rifampicin (antibiotic) or terbinafine (antifungal)
• Corticosteroids (e.g. hydrocortisone, prednisolone)
• Cocaine
• Oestrogens such as a contraceptive pill or hormone replacement therapy

Storage Condition

• Store in a cool and dry place away from sunlight or as mentioned on Product/Label.
